Drop-off, Pick-up, & Dismissal Procedures

There is no parking from 7:00am - 7:40am and from 2:14pm - 3:00pm on the Washington Avenue side of the school to the corner of West Atlantic Ave.

***Students need to use the cross-walk at all times***

Drop-off:

Students will be dropped off in front of the school on Washington Avenue, and parents are expected to pull in the reserved parent drop-off line to let students out.

  • When dropping off, please ensure scholars have everything they need ready to go when you arrive. If students are not ready, it causes a delay in movement that creates a backup with traffic.
  • Please do not drop students off in the middle of traffic. This interrupts the flow of traffic and causes safety concerns.
  • If a parent needs to enter the building, please do not park in the drop-off line. When this happens, it creates a major traffic backup.
  • Drop-off and pick-up in the student parking lot is not permitted

Dismissal:

  • During dismissal students may exit through the side and back doors, and can be picked up from the bus ramp on 49th Street for afternoon pickup.
  • During dismissal, it is expected that students are picked up by 2:40pm. However, if a parent is running late, the student must wait in the front. By 3:15pm, any remaining students who have not been picked up should be in the front of the building on Washington Avenue, and parents must pick up students from Washington Ave.
  • If a student leaves school early, he/she must sign out in the front office and exit through the front doors

Early Dismissal:

  • Parents: If your child needs to leave school early, please send an email to the teacher and/or teachers whose class your child will miss along with Camille Darty, Valerie Murchison, and Olympia Hamilton (including all individuals on the same email).
  • Please include the student's name, dismissal time, the name of the person who will be picking up the student (unless the student drives to school), and your contact phone #.
  • Expect a phone call to confirm the early dismissal. If we are unable to obtain a verbal confirmation, the student will not be dismissed unless a parent or a designated person comes into the building to sign the student out (government issued photo ID will be required).

***Dual-enrollment students who come and go throughout the day to attend their college courses must enter and leave through the front, and sign in and out in the front office***
