2026 National Spanish Examinations

Congratulations to the Spanish I and IV students who achieved outstanding results on the 2026 National Spanish Examinations.

The National Spanish Exam (NSE) is a prestigious online competition that measures language proficiency, provides objective performance feedback, and recognizes academic achievement in Spanish. In addition to national recognition, high-scoring students may qualify for scholarships and other academic opportunities.

This year, 25 students earned an impressive total of 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 12 honorable mentions. According to Lisa Greenman, National Director of the Exams, “Attaining a medal or honorable mention on the National Spanish Examinations is a very prestigious accomplishment because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States, with nearly 85,000 students participating in 2026.”

Students from SAA have a long tradition of excellence on these exams and were taught by Spanish teacher Ana Zurita. The National Spanish Examinations are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
